"A heat pump isn't just a wall feature—it's a precision refrigeration circuit. If you don't calculate heat loss, purge copper lines with dry nitrogen, and pull a deep vacuum below 500 microns, you aren't doing trade work; you're just hanging boxes."
— Dhammika Thilakarathne (Dee), Founder & Managing Director
Over 20 years ago, Dhammika Thilakarathne—known across the trade as "Dee"—started DJR Refrigeration with a simple rule: do the job once, do it right, and never cut corners on engineering.
As a certified Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technician with over two decades on the tools across New Zealand, Dee has personally designed, installed, and serviced thousands of climate systems. His work spans everything from residential high-walls and full-home ducted retrofits to heavy commercial coolrooms and council-mandated mechanical ventilation plant.
We hold ourselves to strict trade standards so your climate and refrigeration systems perform reliably year after year.
As registered Independent Qualified Persons (IQPs) with Auckland Council, we carry out mandatory Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF) inspections for mechanical ventilation systems (SS9). We sign off Form 12A compliance certificates so commercial building owners stay fully compliant with the NZ Building Code.
We carry out actual heat loss calculations before putting a quote together. Our team measures room volume, ceiling stud heights, insulation R-values, and window solar aspect. You pay for the exact thermal capacity (kW) your building needs—no undersized units that frost up in winter, and no sales fluff pushing oversized gear you don't need.
Whether you own your home or manage a portfolio of rentals, our heat pump and ventilation installations meet MBIE requirements for heating output, dampness control, and draught-stopping under the NZ Healthy Homes Standards.
Our mobile service vans are strategically stationed across key Auckland zones for quick dispatch, scheduled servicing, and emergency breakdown response.
